This has been the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, putting 800,000 workers in financial jeopardy. These government employees have familiar faces. They are family, friends and neighbors who once counted on a paycheck and who may now suddenly depend on their local food pantries.
Greater Berks Food Bank – and our community partners – are thoroughly committed to meeting the immediate needs of those impacted by the government shutdown. While we remain hopeful that this shutdown will end soon, we are here for federal government workers who have worked hard to provide for their households and who may now be unsure of how they will pay bills, buy prescriptions and provide warm meals for their families without a paycheck.
GBFB will be holding special food distributions in Berks and Schuylkill Counties to serve the federal employees affected by the shutdown.
Berks County Distribution – Wednesday, January 30 – 4-6 pm at 117 Morgan Drive, Reading PA 19608
Schuylkill County Distribution – Thursday, January 31, 4-6 pm at 400 N 7th St. Pottsville PA 17901
Preregistration required – call 610-926-5802 x 207
