Like many of the other communities and boroughs in the area, Hamburg's real estate market mixes both single-family homes and multi-family homes. Its listings are diverse, with a wide range in location, construction date, property size, and home features. Hamburg's properties are typically priced slightly higher, comparatively, but homes are well-maintained and quite large on average.

Single-family homes in Hamburg include both newer constructions and historic builds. This area's downtown includes an assortment of construction dates. Some of the most recognizable properties are the red brick homes, which were built in the early 1910s and the 1920s. These properties are ornate in design, and a lot of homeowners have tried to keep the original features. Hamburg also has a selection of red brick homes that were built in the 1940s. A number of the historic properties have been renovated over the years to be multi-family homes (duplexes). In addition, there are also a number of townhomes on the market.

Outside of Hamburg, in the area's surrounding the borough's downtown, are a variety of neighborhoods. Architecturally, these properties are mostly bungalows/ranches, as was popular when they were constructed (around the 1970s primarily). With large yards and plenty of space, these homes for sale are listed at a higher price point, and offer a cozy lifestyle in the north end of Berks County.
